Hawaii will be out to prove to the world that they are not a fluke when they fly into New Orleans to do battle with SEC heavy-hitters Georgia in the Nokia Sugar Bowl. The Warriors (No. 10 BCS) rode on the wave of QB Colt Brennan's passing brilliance to their first undefeated record in school history (12-0). But the little team from the islands will learn soon enough that playing a WAC schedule has not prepared them for the ferocity of a top SEC opponent. In order for Hawaii to remain competitive, Brennan will have to complete a lot of passes and gain first downs to keep Georgia off the field. Brennan has averaged over four passing touchdowns a game over this past five games, and if his accuracy can continue, he may have some luck against a Georgia secondary that has struggled at times this season. Although all of the attention generally falls on Hawaii's ridiculous passing game with its star quarterback and trio of wide receivers, they will run the ball on you occasionally to keep you off balance, and RB Kealoha Pilares will need to be effective against Georgia's front seven to help keep the blitzing Dawgs at bay. This game definitely features a true contrast in styles, as the Bulldogs will look to run first and pass second. The Dawgs feature a fierce RB tandem in Knowshon Moreno and Thomas Brown. Moreno, with his dangerous speed and quickness will get the majority of the carries, with Brown able to come in to get him a blow with hardly a drop off in production. Hawaii will be outmanned on the line and will have to bring some guys up, leaving Georgia QB Matthew Stafford and opportunity to pick on the DBs in single coverage. Hawaii will have to hope it can have the type of success against Georgia's line that it did against lesser foes this season (39 sacks), but don't be the house on it. Hawaii should be thrilled at getting an opportunity to play on the national stage and on only its second bowl on the mainland, but don't look for any Boise St.-esque performance from the Warriors. Georgia felt they truly had a gripe with the BCS selection, although they did not even win their own conference, so it will be interesting to see if the Dawgs come out hungry to prove that they are on of the best teams in the nation or if they come out lacking motivation after the presumed snub. I expect the former, and although I expect Hawaii to have some success against Georgia's secondary, I think Georgia's offense will be too big and strong for Hawaii to keep at bay for long. Expect and exciting and high scoring affair in the Big Easy.
